A Brief History of Astrology

Ptolemy AD90-AD168: A Forefather of Astrology

Sources indicate that the ancient Babylonians, of the 2nd millennium BCE, were already recording celestial occurrences and corresponding those movements to significant events in their lives. (Others trace Astrology even earlier to the Sumerians of the 4th millennium BCE, but the jury is still out on that one.)

Later, via Alexandrian Egypt, the Babylonian tradition came to Greece in the 4th Century BCE. There, with the help of the astronomer Ptolemy, it co-mingled with the Egyptian tradition and became the Horoscopic Astrology we use as the foundation of our understanding today!

Conservatively then, people have been consulting Astrologers for well over 3,600 years! And the scientific basis for this belief is well underway!

From Ptolemy, Pythagoras, Plato, Aristotle, and Copernicus, to Galileo, Kepler, Benjamin Franklin, Carl Jung, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Carl Sagan, and J.P. Morgan, many esteemed thinkers and philosophers have practiced or consulted this ancient proto-science.

Astrology is assured of recognition from psychology… because astrology represents the summation of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity.–C.G. Jung
